Catherine McKinnell MP visits KB CyclesNewcastle North MP, Catherine McKinnell, visited KB Cycles in Newburn this week to hear from owner and founder, Keith Bradley, about the business’ continued success.

KB Cycles opened in 2006 as a small specialist cycle store in the Old Fire Station building on Newburn High Street, and has grown year on year into one of the largest cycles stores in the Newcastle area.

However, the shop suffered a major setback in September 2012 when the culvert which runs under its parking area blocked and collapsed – leaving KB Cycles four feet underwater. This led to a temporary move to premises in Blaydon, before a grand re-opening in Newburn in June 2013.

Catherine said:

‘It was good to visit KB Cycles and see how it’s going from strength to strength following the culvert collapse back in 2012.

‘The shop offers a really impressive range of bikes and related products, and Keith and his team have clearly worked incredibly hard to build the business up again following a very challenging period. I am pleased to be able to support this excellent, local firm.’

Keith Bradley said:

‘It was great to have our local MP visit us this week, and wish us well as we grow the business after a difficult time.’
