Pre-school children were welcomed to their new nursery on the Great Park this week (8th September), when it was officially opened by Newcastle North MP, Catherine McKinnell.

Plantpots Playgroup is a new facility for 2-5 year olds based at the Great Park Community Centre on Roseden Way.

It was started by mum of three, Tamasine McQueen, who lives on the Great Park. A qualified early years teacher with more than 20 years’ experience in childcare, she won the contract to run a nursery at the community centre over several already well-established nurseries.

Tamasine said: ‘I am really excited to see Plantpots up and running, and to welcome all the children and their parents to the nursery.

‘We have a real emphasis on free flow outdoor play at Plantpots, which gives the children more space and freedom to explore the world around them without being rushed from one activity to the other.

‘All my staff have been brilliant in helping make Plantpots a reality. I would also like to thank Catherine for coming here this week to support our opening.’

Catherine said: ‘It was such a pleasure to open Plantpots at the beautiful new Great Park Community Centre.

‘All of the children were so excited to get stuck into the different activities at their new nursery, and I don’t blame them as it is a fabulous place to play and learn. This is real boost for parents and children on the Great Park.’
