Newcastle North MP, Catherine McKinnell, is urging women in her constituency to protect their heart health and support the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Angina Monologues campaign. The campaign aims to raise awareness of heart disease amongst women.

Catherine recently attended a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Heart Disease and met with other MPs from across all parties to discuss how they can raise awareness of heart disease in their local area.

There are currently more than a million women living with heart disease in the UK today and it kills three times more women than breast cancer.

Catherine said:

“Heart disease is the single biggest killer of women in the UK, yet many women think heart disease is a middle-aged male problem. The BHF’s Angina Monologues campaign is a fantastic way to encourage women to think more about their heart health.

“I would urge all women in Newcastle North to help spread the word amongst their family and friends; it might just save their life.”
