Newcastle North MP Catherine McKinnell joined postmen and women at the Gosforth Delivery Office for a pre-Christmas visit to pass on Christmas greetings and took the opportunity to thank postmen and women for all their hard work throughout the pandemic

Christmas is Royal Mail’s busiest time of the year and Catherine saw the hard work and dedication of postmen and women to sort and deliver festive parcels, cards and letters.

Catherine was shown around the delivery office by a Delivery Office Manager and was introduced to postmen and women as they gear up for Christmas. She heard how the team have worked tirelessly over the past eighteen months to keep communities connected and businesses trading.

Catherine commented “As key workers, Royal Mail staff have been working flat out with little respite throughout the pandemic and are now coming into their busiest time of year.

“Since being elected in 2010, I have tried to visit the Delivery Office in the run up to Christmas. I wasn’t able to visit last year due to the pandemic, so it was brilliant to be able to visit again and thank posties for all their hard work during the pandemic.

“As we approach the Christmas season, they will be delivering Christmas parcels and cards, spreading a bit of cheer after what has been a very challenging year for many. I hope that we can all do our bit by posting our cards and gifts early.

“I also took the opportunity to thank all Royal Mail staff on behalf of constituents for all of their work.
