Results for the 2024 GCSEs, Level 1, Level 1/2 and Level 2 VTQs have now been published, and Catherine celebrated students’ hard work and achievements across the country.

Catherine was really honoured to share in the day at St Thomas More Language College in West London, where she chatted to nervous and excited students as they opened their results.

There was lots of media interest, with Catherine appearing on Sky News and BBC Breakfast among others, speaking about Labour’s plans to drive up standards in education and break down the barriers to opportunity for every young person.

Following results day, Catherine commented:

“I want to say a huge congratulations to all students who received results in their GCSEs or VTQs.”

Every student should be so proud of the work you’ve put in and what you’ve achieved.

We should also recognise the awesome efforts of the brilliant teachers and staff in the education system who supported you through your journey and helped you get here.

Remember that there are lots of options available to you. Go to this web link for advice: https://educationhub.blog.gov.uk/2024/08/20/gcse-results-day-2024-number-grading-system/

Every child and young person, regardless of background, should have the best start in life and be able to achieve their goals. It is this new Labour government’s mission to break down the barriers to  opportunity across the country and we are getting on with that job.”
