Alongside many of her constituents, Catherine welcomed the £20 per week increase that was applied to Universal Credit earlier this year.
This additional money has been a lifeline to many people in Newcastle North and across the country.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been incredibly difficult, and brought new challenges. People who still receive old style support such as Job Seekers Allowance and Child Tax Credits, which are being replaced by Universal Credit, have not seen their payments rise in line with the increase applied to Universal Credit.
There is now a huge danger that this group of people will also bear the brunt of the economic crisis too.
Catherine has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer to urge him to boost all support in line with Universal Credit as soon as possible.
