Newcastle North MP, Catherine McKinnell, will join a wide range of local agencies for a free, one-day advice event being held in Lemington this week.

Organised by Newcastle Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), the session will feature experts from the CAB, Newcastle Welfare Rights Service, Council Revenue and Benefits Staff, Disability North, Shelter, Warm Zone and David Gray Solicitors. It will take place from 10am-4pm on Thursday 27th January at The Lemington Centre on Tyne View, with Catherine McKinnell attending from 10-11am.

Catherine said:

“I am delighted to be taking part in Newcastle CAB’s welfare advice day. This is an excellent initiative to bring free, confidential advice services out into the community and the CAB have chosen a first-class venue in The Lemington Centre for this session to take place.

“I know that the current financial climate makes this a very worrying time for many of my constituents, and I would therefore urge anyone with any concerns to pop along for a chat and find out what services are available to assist them.”

Shona Alexander (Chief Executive, Newcastle CAB) said:

“This is the time of year when many people are struggling to cope with fuel bills, debts from Christmas and many other pressures.

“We want to make advice services easily accessible to clients in the Outer West areas. Anyone wanting advice can simply turn up on the day and see specialist advisors to help with debt, housing, work, consumer, benefit and legal problems. Alternatively, they can book an appointment in advance by calling 0844 494 4717.”
