Thank you to everyone who has engaged with Newcastle City Council’s Consultation on the Outer West Leisure Centre following our campaign which secured £22m in funding for a new Centre.

I supported the bid in Parliament and raised the issue directly with the Prime Minister and other Ministers. Since the announcement, I have continued to meet with Newcastle City Council, and local community and sports groups. My team and I attended meetings and consultation events for the first stage of the consultation, and it was fantastic to hear the excitement in the community for the project.

The new state of the art, zero carbon centre will include a sports hall, gym, café, library, community space and swimming pool.

This week I met again with the officials leading the consultation for an update and next week Stage 2 of the consultation process beings. This will include a series of drop in in-person and virtual events across the Outer West of Newcastle.

The details for the consultation events are below and it would be fantastic to see as many residents getting along to hear about the project and have their say on the proposals as possible. Further details on the proposals and information on signing up to the events can be found online www.letstalknewcastle.co.uk.
