St John Vianney is a Roman Catholic primary school in West Denton, teaching students from nursery to year 6. Catherine attended a school assembly and answered wide-ranging questions from students about her work as an MP, the nature of Parliament and what democracy means to them.

Following the visit, Catherine commented:

“I had a lovely morning at St John Vianney primary school chatting with students about politics and answering their questions about Parliament and how democracy works in action.

The school has faced some incredible challenges as a result of RAAC, and I was so impressed by their spirit and determination to ensure the best education for every child. It is vital the Government steps up to support schools with the challenges arising within school buildings as they urgently need to be addressed.”
