The Coronavirus crisis has been a difficult and demanding time for so many but it has also shown the very best of our community.

Whether it’s our health and care workers and support staff on the front line in the NHS and social care, essential workers keeping services running, community organisations like the West End Food Bank, or local people volunteering their time to help friends and neighbours, we have seen the very best of Newcastle.

This week in Parliament I’m leading a Petitions Committee debate on how, as a nation, we could better recognise and reward health and social care workers, putting their lives on the line to keep us safe.

I’m also launching a community champions campaign to recognise the amazing work of local people in our local community.

Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond during this crisis?

Has a friend, relative, or neighbour gone the extra mile to support you or others in need of help?

Let me know who your Community Champions are by completing this nomination form – it’ll only take a minute!
