Catherine was pleased to be able to show her support for The Together Plan charity’s exhibition in Newcastle City Council Library as part of Newcastle City Council’s Holocaust Memorial Day events.

The exhibition commemorated not only the devastating loss of millions of Jewish lives during the Holocaust, but also the disappearance of cultures, communities, languages and traditions in Belarus and the Soviet Union.

Catherine sent a video message in support of the Together Plan’s mission to preserve the past, which is so critical for understanding the challenges of the present.

You can find out more about The Together Plan’s work on their website – https://thetogetherplan.com/

In her video message, Catherine commented:

“The theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day was ‘Fragility of Freedom’, which draws attention to how the climate in which genocide takes place is created.

At a time when conflict and insecurity are impacting many parts of the world, we cannot be complacent about how easy it is for perpetrators to restrict and remove freedoms.

The ‘Making History Together’ exhibition is a critical part of this mission and shows us how by collectively remembering the past, we can help safeguard our freedoms of today and the future.

Thank you to the team at The Together Plan and to everyone who had a role in organising this poignant exhibition and event”
