Catherine speaking to camera in Westminster for the Youth Sport Trust

Catherine showed her support for boosting PE and sport in schools as part of the Youth Sport Trust annual conference.

The Youth Sport Trust runs inclusive and educational programmes to increase the levels of physical activity among young people and children and aims to empower every young person to benefit from the life-changing power of sport.

Catherine sent a video message in support of the Youth Sport Trust’s mission and reflected on her own personal journey with sport, highlighting how it helped her to build confidence as a student.

In her video message, Catherine commented:

“We know that children can’t excel at school unless they are in school. Sport can help get children back into the classroom, boosting their wellbeing and giving them a reason to be excited about school.

Labour would support this by delivering a curriculum which prioritises getting the basics, such as reading, writing and maths right, but also providing greater opportunities for enrichment, including a greater focus on sports and music – the things that make coming to school fun.”
